Welcome back! We hope you had an enjoyable Easter break and haven't eaten too much chocolate!

Phonics

Reception

The next few weeks the children continue to consolidate their sounds. This week we will also look at adding -ed onto a root word.

Year 1

This week, Year 1 children will be consolidating the sounds they have learnt over the last term.

Year 2

The children will learn about adding suffixes to root words.

English

Reception children will start a new book topic based on Castles.

Year 1 & 2 will be introduced to our new writing scheme 'The Write Stuff'. This week we will focus on learning about the 'lenses' found in the writing rainbow.

Maths

Reception begin their new topic 20 and byond.

Year 1 children continue ''mass and volume".

Year 2 children continue "length and height".

Please remember the Year 1 and 2 math homework is due in on Mondays.

Science

We start a new topic learning about plants and bulbs. This week the children will explore a variety of plants and whether they grow from a seed or a bulb. We will also be planting in our veg bed.

RE - Why do we celebrate special times? Easter

History - How have explorers changed the world?

Finding out what an explorer is and what they do.

Art

Our new art topic will take us on a journey of colour. This week we look at colour mixing, learning about the primary and secondary colour wheel.

PSHE - Healthy Me

Knowing how to make healthy lifestyle choices.

Music

Mrs Askew will be taking the class for Music each Tuesday morning.

Coach will take the class for PE each Tuesday afternoon. This term will focus on fundamental skills and games..

Could we also remind you

that your child should be reading regularly at home in order to consolidate the sounds and words that they have been learning in school during the week, through regular reading, they will also become more fluent readers without having to sound out each word in a sentence.
Water bottles should only contain water, not squash, juice or flavoured water.
